What in the world is Hyperloop? One thing is for sure, it’s more than just a train. Some people thinks it’s a movement and it might just change the world of transportation as we know it. Here’s an expert’s guide to the science dreams are made of.
The advantages of Hyperloop travel are transformative, reducing travel time from hours to minutes … and creating economic opportunities throughout its connected region.
About Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT, HyperloopTT) is an innovative transportation and technology company focused on realizing The Hyperloop, a system that moves people and goods at unprecedented speeds safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Through the use of unique, patented technology and an advanced business model of lean collaboration, open innovation and integrated partnership, HyperloopTT is creating and licensing technologies.
What else is Hyperloop?
Hyperloop is a Movement.
Consisting of 800+ collaborators,
52 multidisciplinary teams,
38 countries,
and 40+ corporate partners.
The NASA Effect.
What does NASA have to do with Hyperloop?
“In order to get to the moon we had to develop a lot of technologies that were then later used somewhere else.”
-Dirk Ahlborn-Hyperloop CEO
New Hyperloop technologies are already being leveraged in other sectors.
In Tongren China, the Hyperloop Transportation system will rapidly enhance the development of a new high-tech industry and equipment manufacturing industry inside Guizhou Province. The Hyperloop will effectively improve the popularity of Tongren city and the development of a fresh tourism industry.

Regulations are the biggest barrier to Hyperloop commercial deals and require working with governments to create a new legislative framework.
- It’s not a plane, it’s not a train, therefore governments need new laws and regulations.
- Receiving an insurance policy was a big step towards commercialization.
- It’s going to take time to convince governments the system is safe.
How did the Hyperloop movement start?
Hyperloop is the the latest iteration of an ongoing effort to create
a high speed tube-based transportation system. Elon Musk
presented the project as offering high speed transportation that
would be both sustainable and affordable.
In 2013, Musk opened the intellectual property to any company that
would take the project forward and develop technologies to build
it. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies was the first company
founded to develop Hyperloop and make it a reality.

HyperloopTransportation Technologies announced the signing of an agreement in the People’s Republic of China.
Hyperloop TT will build China’s First Hyperloop System.
“Tongren has always been focused on sustainable development. The signing for The Hyperloop project is a major step to open up the inland development, an important achievement of the Tongren Great Investment Action Year, and an important project to enlarge and strengthen the local economy,” said Chen Shaorong Mayor of Tongren. “After the completion of the project, it will greatly accelerate the research and development of China’s hyperloop system”.
“China leads the world in the amount of high speed rail constructed by far, and now they are looking for a more efficient high speed solution in hyperloop,” said Bibop Gresta, Chairman of HyperloopTT. “We have spent the past few years finding the right partners to work with in China and now with a strong base network of relationships in place, we are ready to begin work to create the system along with the proper legal framework for the nation.”
Hyperloop will primarily be built on pylons, using best practices.
from civil engineering including seismic design and ability
to withstand thermal expansion. In addition, it is completely
automated with advanced technologies that only require
monitoring from humans. The system is electrically powered,
with no need for fuel on board, and is protected from the
environment. We have developed tiered emergency plans and
redundant escape procedures and systems in the event of any
incident. The HyperloopTT’s system was deemed “feasible
and insurable” by the world’s largest reinsurance company
Munich RE.
“In India right now and some of these very large cities like Mumbai for example, people are trying more and more to get into the city and the cities are overflowing there’s a gridlock … with the Hyperloop people will be able to be in the city center in minutes … you have the ability to connect cities that are five hundred to six hundred miles apart within 30, 40 minutes”
– Dirk Ahlborn, Hyperloop CEO.
